Dr. Tanice Kitchener, PT, DPT, OCS
Owner, Physical Therapist
Education
I received a Bachelors in Science from Colorado State University - Pueblo in 2005 and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Colorado in 2008. Since then I have worked consistently to increase my knowledge and experience to better serve my clients. I enjoy helping clients overcome orthopedic musculoskeletal pain and pelvic floor related challenges using many tools including specific exercise, manual therapy, trigger point dry needling orthopedic cupping, and more. I am also passionate about helping clients overcome areas of dysfunction and pain which are far less of a focus in our medical culture. I have undergone extensive training in examination and treatment of orthopedic conditions as well as pelvic floor disorders (including support and treatment for the pregnant and postpartum mother), disorders resulting from oncological disease (cancer), pain and movement disorders from mastectomy/reconstruction, and upper extremity lymphedema. See below for a list of specific continuing education courses that I have taken.
Passions
Born and raised in Colorado, I have a passion for travel and being outdoors. Biking, skiing, snowboarding, waterskiing, sledding, hiking...anything outdoors brings me peace. I am so grateful to be in a career which allows me to help others maximize their physical abilities so that they may also enjoy the calling of nature or whatever their own passions may be. As a child, I grew up spending summer weekends on the Frying Pan River at my Great Grandparents' cabin and am thrilled to be back in the Roaring Fork Valley.
If I have not had the pleasure of working with you yet, please give me a call at (970) 340-2444 to schedule your evaluation and first treatment. I truly look forward to meeting you!
Continuing Education
The more that I learn, the more effectively and efficiently I can serve my clients in their quest to improve their quality of life. I recently became a board certified orthopedic specialist. This is no small feat, less than 6.4% of the countries licensed PTs have their OCS (Orthopedic Certified Specialist) certification. Dr. Caitlyn Tivy, PT, DPT, OCS
Education
Caitlyn received her Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from the University of Denver and began her career as a biomedical researcher at the National Institutes of Health. She soon realized that she preferred applying her science knowledge to real people over lab mice, and she decided to pursue a clinical career.
Caitlyn earned her Doctor of Physcial Therapy Degree (DPT) from the University of Colorado Denver. After completing her degree, she enrolled in a yearlong residency program with Evidence in Motion in Austin, TX. This residency focused on orthopedic manual physical therapy, including extensive post-professional coursework and mentoring with fellowship-trained Physical Therapists.
In 2018, Caitlyn received board certification as an Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS), a prestigious designation held by fewer than 500 Physical Therapists in Colorado. She then began pursuing advanced training in pelvic health, a subspecialty practice area focused on bladder, bowel, and sexual health for people of all genders. She completed her pelvic floor series and Capstone with the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute.
Caitlyn continues to pursue ongoing training and education in orthopedics and pelvic health. An avid reader of primary literature, she strives to stay up-to-date on the latest research and breakthroughs in rehabilitation science. When she isn’t seeing clients in the clinic, Caitlyn writes extensively for a number of medical education platforms. She specializes in translating complex science into lay language to inform health care consumers and providers alike.
Outside of work, Caitlyn thrives on time spent in nature: she is happiest when she is skiing, ski touring in the backcountry, or exploring on her mountain bike. Whether she’s backpacking in a remote wilderness, cycling up a mountain pass, or recharging with her yoga practice, she finds hoy through movement. When she can’t be outside, she finds peace by tending her growing houseplant collection.
Caitlyn is a dedicated volunteer for Sacred Cycle, a local nonprofit that promotes healing for survivors of sexual trauma through mountain biking and community. She also volunteers and fences regularly with Roaring Fork Fencers Club, which is owned and operated by her partner, Greg.
Caitlyn believes strongly in the power of thorough, compassionate care for every individual. She works to provide the highest quality care by combining the latest research, clinical experience, and her client’s unique preferences. Her background as a certified yoga teacher informs both her clinical care and daily life. She strives to bring mindfulness into her everyday routines and her interactions with clients. She believes firmly in the body’s ability to heal itself when given the correct tools, and she endeavors to empower her clients to take charge of their own healing journey.
